New MO Min. Wage Law Goes to Court

Saturday, January 20, 2007

18 Fire and Police Agencies are taking Missouri to court over part of the new minimum wage law that went into effect on Jan 1. The law, which raised the minimum wage to $6.50, also required people to be paid overtime when they work more than 40 hours in a week. Public service agencies, like fire and police departments, typically were exempt from that requirement in the past. Policemen and firemen typically aren't paid enough money as it is for what they do. At least give them some overtime pay.
