Seriously, the new facebook news feed isn't that much different than what already goes on. Instead of it taking hours of surfing facebook, you can get the same information in two seconds. Facebook is however going to allow you to pick and choose what others can see about you on their news feed. Check this article out from Newsweek for a level headed article on the news feed.
