St. Louis Is The Most Dangerous City

Monday, October 30, 2006

While St. Louis Mayor Francis Slay was out on the town celebrating the Cardinals' World Series win on Sunday, the Associated Press was trying to contact his office. At first you would think that maybe it was about the Redbrids, but no, they were trying to get a quote regarding the most recent Most Dangerous City list published by the Morgan Quitno Press. St. Louis topped the list for the first time, knocking off the reigning two-time champ, Camden, N.J.
The crime rate in the city of St. Louis jumped 20% in a year, trumping the national average of 2.5%. I would assume St. Louis has a good chance of repeating this win considering the residents' overall superiority vs the rest of the country at drive-bys and other violent crimes. Having a public school district that looks on the verge of losing accredidation and a school board that thinks it is a good idea to pay Anthony Bonner $125,000 a year doesn't hurt either.
